5 Personal Firewalls
Some personal firewall software will prevent the Genealogy Browser from accessing the Internet.

Please allow OneGreatFamily programs permission through any personal firewall software that you are running (Norton, Blue Ice, etc.). If you are not sure how to allow programs access through, please temporarily disable the firewall and see if you are able to use the Genealogy Browser.

If you are using Norton, please follow these steps in order to allow OneGreatFamily programs access:

1. Open up Norton Personal Firewall/Internet Security and navigate to the Permissions/Internet Access Control list.
2. Scroll down the list until you find "OneGreatFamily Genealogy Browser" (there may be more then one listed).
3. Remove all "OneGreatFamily Genealogy Browser" entries from the access control list by clicking the remove button.
4. Select "Add to access control list". Navigate to C:\Program Files\OGF, and select the file Z.exe.
5. A screen will appear asking you to select a form of access. Select the box "Permit access to the Internet."
6. Scroll down the Access Control list and make sure that the Permit All tag is selected on the Z.exe file.

Note: You can disable your personal firewall by right clicking on its icon and going to disable.

Note: If you are receiving the 12029 error when you launch your group, this may be because of some personal firewall software.

Note: A personal firewall is different from a Network Firewall. OneGreatFamily only uses port 80.
Note: When a new version of the Genealogy Browser is released, you may need to re-allow it access or again temporarily disable the firewall.
